Egg Yolk Peritonitis in an Eclectus parrot (Eclectus roratus)

Abstract

Postmortem examination of an Eclectus parrot (Eclectus roratus) revealed the presence of inspissated yellowish yolk materials in the abdominal cavity and ruptured follicles. Escherichia coli was isolated from the heart blood and oviduct swabs. Peritonitis and salphingitis were observed. The case was diagnosed as Egg yolk peritonitis caused by E. coli.
