Cestodiosis in an Indian Pitta (Pitta brachyura): A Case Report

Abstract

An Indian Pitta which was found in SPCA campus, Chennai struggling to fly was rescued and rehabilitated.The bird was released once it became normal and able to fly. The droppings voided by the bird revealed presence of eggs of Hymenolepis spp. on microscopic examination while it was negative for Newcastle disease and mycoplasmosis by PCR.
