Management of Pre and Post Partum Prolapse in Small Ruminants: Retrospective Study of 24 Cases

Abstract

This study was carried out in 24 does and ewes which had genital prolapse over a period of three months at Veterinary Clinical Complex, Veterinary College and Research Institute, Tirunelveli. Vaginal prolapse was predominantly observed during gestation (usually advanced stage) and uterine prolapse following parturition. First grade vaginal prolapse could be controlled effectively by exogenous progesterone therapy with hind quarter elevation however, Modied Buhner’s suture of the prolapsed parts in animals suffering from second and third grades vaginal and uterine prolapse.
