Radiation Safety of Horse Meat and Mares Milk, Obtained from Horses Grown in Radiation Risk Zones Semey Nuclear Test Site

Abstract

Researches were conducted in 8 in private farmsteads of citizens and farms engaged in horse breeding located in the territories of the former Semey nuclear test sites in the stationary control points of the settlements of Sarzhal and Dolon (an emergency radiation risk zone) , Semenovka and Medeu ( the maximum radiation risk zone) , Georgievka ( the increased radiation risk zone) , Kokpekty and Aksuat (the minimum radiation risk zone) . The radiation background in the territories of summer pastures for grazing horses belonging to the population and farms was determined, radioactivity of meat and Mares milk was determined.
