Surgical Management of Gastric Rupture in a Chippiparai Dog : A Case Report

Abstract
A two year old Chippiparai breed female dog was presented with the history of unproductive vomiting/ retching, lethargy and severe abdomen distension after fed with chicken and rice on previous day night. The case tentatively diagnosed as gastric dilatation through radiography, which revealed abdominal distention with uid. Exploratory laparotomy was performed under general anesthesia; diagnosed as gastric rupture due to gastric dilatation and voluvlus. Gastric rupture was sutured PGA 3-0 in double layer suture pattern. Post-operatively uid therapy, antibiotics and analgesics were administered for four days. On 4th day serous discharge from site and on 5th day animal was collapsed due to secondary bacterial infection
