Abstract

A study was undertaken to compare liposome based OptiXcell extender with Tris extender for cryopreservation of crossbred bull semen. Functional sperm parameters were estimated for the semen straws frozen with the two extenders using Computer Assisted Semen Analyzer (CASA) and Flow Cytometer. Sperm motility, live sperms, live sperms with intact Acrosome, sperms with mitochondrial membrane potential and HOS reactive sperms were higher for OptiXcell extender. Altered sperm chromatin structure was lower in OptiXcell compared to Tris. OptiXcell was found to be effective in cryopreservation of crossbred bull spermatozoa and compared to Tris buffer, functional sperm parameters were superior
