Management of Dystocia Due to Hypoplastic Vulval Lips by Unilateral Episiotomy in a Malnad Gidda Cow

Abstract

A full term pregnant four-year-old Malnadgidda cow was presented to Large Animal Obstetrical Unit, Madras Veterinary College Teaching Hospital, Chennai – 600 007 with the history of unproductive straining since six hours. Gynaeco-clinical examination revealed the case of dystocia due to hypoplastic vulva. Unilateral episiotomy operation was performed and a live male foetus was removed per vaginum. Animal had an uneventful recovery after treatment with antibiotic, antihistamine, anti-inflammatory drugs for 5 days.
