Abstract

The present study was c o n d u c t e d on eighteen (18) growing goats (for a period of thirteen weeks) divided randomly into three groups to evaluate the effect of partial replacement of maize with soybean hulls on their performance. The concentrate mixture was formulated by using locally available common feed ingredients. The control group T0, while T1 group and T2 groups, respectively received concentrate mixtures with 25% and 50% replacement of maize by soybean hulls. The average mean body weights were ranged from 17.31 kg (T0) to 17.45 kg (T1) groups. The average ADG was ranged from 77.68g (T0) to 81.10g (T2) groups. The total mean DMI was ranged from 824.86g (T2) to 830.41g (T1) groups. The average body weights, ADG and total DMI found non-signicantly different among the treatment groups. The cost of feeding/kg of weight gain were Rs.124.27/-, Rs.120.16/-, and Rs.113.95/- rupees in T0, T1, and T2 groups, respectively. It is concluded that soybean hulls can be used safely to replace maize up to 50 percent in the concentrate mixture of growing goats.
