Abstract

Sixty-four ejaculates (eight from each bull) were collected from matured bulls. Ejaculates were classified into the freezable (n=49) and non-freezable (n=15) based on the initial parameters (motility ≥ 70%, mass activity ≥ 3 and post-thaw motility 50 %). Correlation between functional and biochemical parameters viz., livability, motility, HOST, morphology, alkaline phosphatase (ALP), aspartate transaminase (AST), alanine transaminase (ALT), hyaluronidase, calcium and magnesium were estimated. The results revealed significant negative correlation (p<0.01) for ALP and ALT with livability, motility, HOST, morphology and acrosome integrity. However, non-significant positive and negative correlations were found between other parameters.

Key Words: biochemical parameters, correlation, functional parameters
