External Skeletal Fixation for the Treatment of Metatarsal Fracture in a Goat

Abstract

A seven month old female Malabari cross bred goat was presented to Teaching Veterinary Clinical Complex, Mannuthy with history of non weight bearing lameness of left hindlimb. On radiography fracture of mid shaft of metatarsus was conrmed. Fracture was stabilized by uniplanar bilateral acrylic external xator under general anaesthesia. Clinical healing of fracture was observed by 8th postoperative week and the implant was removed. Animal had an uneventful recovery.
