Abstract

The Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying, Government of India, has introduced different schemes and programs to uplift the animal production sector of our country. Eight well-formulated programs are introduced with the main focus on bringing quality services to farmers’ doorstep, facilitating private sector entrepreneurship to augment access and affordability, eradicating economically important animal diseases through carpet vaccination, and maintaining animal identification and traceability. currently there for this purpose, viz., Rashtriya Gokul Mission (RGM), National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD), Supporting Dairy Cooperatives and Farmer Producer Organisations engaged in Dairy activities (SDCFPO), Dairy infrastructure development fund (DIDF), National Livestock Mission (NLM), Livestock Health and Disease Control (LH&DC), Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund (AHIDF), and Kisan Credit Card (KCC).
