Diagnosis of Transmissible Venereal Tumor and it’s Medical Management in Canines

Abstract

Diagnosis of TVT in twenty cases by cytology method was recorded in canines during the period January to June 2022. They accounted for 40% of all the tumors presented to VCC, College of Veterinary Science, Rajendranagar. Cytology of impression smears revealed large round cells, with round nucleus and vacuoles in the basophilic cytoplasm. Chemotherapy with Vincristine at a dose rate of 0.025 mg/kg body weight through slow intravenous route along with Ivermectin 0.2mg/kg body weight through subcutaneous route at weekly intervals for four weeks was performed. Complete recovery of tumor mass was observed at the end of 4th week post treatment.
