Abstract

The aim of this study was to characteristic NDV isolated from pigeon in Surabaya, Indonesia. The partial fusion protein (F) gene of the NDV isolates were amplified, sequenced and analyzed. The homology score showed 97%when compared to LaSota. Sample was categorized as lentogenic strain from its cleavage site with one amino acid mutation at 114. The phylogenetic tree showed that it is genetically close with LaSota. It was concluded that the pigeon in Surabaya, Indonesia carry lentogenic NDV strain, indicating that the pigeons may act as the main reservoir of NDV in poultry
