Abstract

A seven month old female white pekin duck (Anas platyrhynchos) was presented with a history of lethargy and irregular egg-laying since a week. On physical examination there was a swelling of the vent with myiasis and on digital pressure one egg was palpable. Dorso-ventral radiograph of the abdomen confirmed the presence of an intact thin shelled oversized egg near cloacal region. On the basis of physical and radiographic examination the case was diagnosed as egg binding condition. With help of lubricant and gentle digital manipulation the condition was relieved.
