Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess the sperm morphometry of the Pesisir bull as the native Indonesian cattle. The semen was collected from 3 Pesisir bull in two ejaculates using an artificial vagina. The semen was evaluated gross and microscopic examination. The morphometry of sperm head length, head width, head perimeter, mid piece, principal piece, length of total tail and length of total sperm were measured. Results of the study : head length, head width, head perimeter, mid piece and principal piece length, total tail length, total length of sperm respectively were, 9.40 ± 018 ?m, 5.02 ± 0.28 ?m, 24.43 ± 0.64 ?m, 14, 22 ± 0.41 ?m, 46.12 ± 0.61 ?m, 60.34 ± 0.77 ?m and 69.95 ± 0.74 ?m. These results are useful to compare the morphometric standard values of small cattle sperms in Indonesia.
