Abstract

A biological trial was conducted using a total of 1250 day old Cobb 430 male broiler chicks which were randomly allotted to five groups. Each group had ten replicates with 25 birds in each replicate. Basal diet was fed to Negative Control (NC) group, whereas Positive Control (PC) group received Antibiotic Growth Promoter (AGP)@ 500g per ton of feed in addition to the basal diet. MonoBlok-ECS, a commercial product containing medium-chain fatty acid derivatives with synergistic components (MCFA-SC) was included along with the basal diet in the remaining three groups at different levels viz., 300, 500 and 1000 g per ton of feed. Feeding schedule was followed as per the recommendations of Cobb 430 standards. Weekly body weight gain and average daily feed consumption were recorded. Feed efficiency was calculated at weekly intervals and CFCR was calculated @ 2 kg Body weight. FCR at 28 days and CFCR @ 2kg bodyweight were found to be best in broilers supplemented with MCFA-SC @ 500g/ton of feed.
