Abstract

This study was undertaken in Sambalpuri buffaloes of 10 different villages of Sambalpur and Bargarh districts of Odisha. Climate resilient characters like draught power (hr), draught power (KWh), heat tolerance and fatigue score were studied. Significant difference in the said characters was observed between the different sexes of the buffalo breed. Broad sense heritability for the mentioned traits was found out. This revealed that the draught power (hr), draught power (KWh) and heat tolerance are highly heritable traits but fatigue score is a low heritable trait.

Key Words: Sambalpuri buffalo, Climate resilient characters
