Abstract

The current research was designed to differentiate between males and females using the recently published referring sequences of the female W chromosome. Specic PCR primers were designed to amplify 233 bp and 170 bp of AKAP8 gene, and WIZ gene, respectively. All the results revealed no differences between both sexes since both W chromosome-specic PCR primers were found to amplify other somatic positions within the included males. However, extremely high specicity was observed in quails’ identity detection which suggests that both designed AKAP8 and WIZ amplicons represent highly attractive markers for this species identication

Key Words: AKAP8 gene, quails sexing,WIZ gene, W chromosome
