Abstract

Prostate is a bi-lobed, encapsulated and bilaterally symmetrical ovoid gland, located caudal to the bladder, encircling the proximal urethra. Five intact male dogs with prostatic abscess were selected to study the ef cacy of transabdominal ultrasonographic evaluation and performed needle aspiration of abscessed material from the prostatic gland. Recurrence of prostatic abscess was noticed in one dog (1/5) during the period of study. Ultrasonographic examination of prostate gland aided as diagnostic modality, helped to perform therapeutic procedures and also used to monitor the outcome of the treatment.
