Reconstruction of Circular Skin Defect with Single Pedicle Advancement Flap in a Dog

Abstract

An eight months old male intact German shepherd was brought to the hospital, with a history of non-healing wound in the left hip. Physical examination revealed Circular wound measuring about 9 cm in diameter with poor granulation tissue. Wound bed was prepared until the formation of healthy granulation tissue. A single pedicle advancement ap from dorsal region of the hip was used to reconstruct the skin defect. Post-operative care with systemic antibiotic therapy and wound dressing was continued for ten days. The sutures were removed on 10th post-operative day and the animal had complete ap acceptance.
