Abstract

Disinfection of animal shed means making them free from disease producing organisms. An attempt has been made to assess the efcacy of cow urine – herbal preparation. The study was carried out in three different seasons of the year in pig fattener facilities, farrowing pen and dairy units in an organised farm. Cow urine was used as a base material in this case. The efcacy of the disinfection was found out by dilution method. The action of cow urine based preparation was highly signicant (P<0.01) in all livestock sheds. The seasonal effect of the disinfectant may be due to the inuence of temperature, humidity (both absolute and relative), sunlight exposure and even atmospheric pollutants.

Key Words: Cow urine, Herbal Disinfectants, Efcacy.
