Abstract

The objective of the present study was to investigate the relationships between  uid in uterus (FIU), endometrial polymorphonuclear (PMN) cells at the time of AI and pregnancy outcome in 40 crossbred Jersey cows. On the day of estrum, FIU was measured using ultrasonography and endometrial cytological samples were harvested using the cytobrush before inseminating the animals. The mean FIU at the time of AI in group I (pregnant animals) and II (non pregnant animals) were 2.94 ± 0.46 (1.70 – 5.44) mm and 3.20 ± 0.31 (1.06 – 7.51) mm respectively, the difference was non-signi cant. The PMN cells were observed in only one cow in pregnant group and had no relationship with  uid accumulated in uterine lumen. In conclusion, FIU and PMN cells at the time of AI had no relationship with pregnancy outcome in crossbred Jersey cows
