Polycystic Kidney Disease in Three Dogs - A Report

Abstract

Renal cysts are epithelium-lined cavities lled with liquid of various composition. Polycystic kidney is dened as a genetically determined cystic lesion of either the autosomal-dominant (ADPKD) or autosomal-recessive forms (ARPKD). Two non-descriptive and a German shepherd dogs were diagnosed with unilateral polycystic kidney disease by abdominal ultrasonography. Functional loss and development of end stage renal disease (ESRD) was seen in a  ve year old female non-descriptive dog but no signs of renal impairment was seen in remaining two dogs.
