Abstract

The present study was conducted in two cows and four buffaloes suffering from omasal impaction. The omsal laminae biopsies were collected intra-operatively while relieving omasal impaction during laparo-rumenotomy. The biopsy samples were subjected to histopathology to evaluate the condition of omasal mucosa. It was recorded that the extent of narcosis and degenerative changes in the omasal laminae could be depending upon the severity of omasal impaction. This severity in the omasal laminae was correlated with the survivability of the animal and concluded a reliable prognostic indicator.
