Abstract

A seven year old male Labrador was brought to the department of Veterinary Pathology for postmortem examination, with the history of tarry coloured diarrhoea for the past one week. There was splenomegaly in gross examination. On cytological examination, presence of normal adipocytes and myeloid precursors were seen. Histopathologically, the capsule was thinned out with multifocal areas of normal adipose tissue. Amidst extensive myeloid precursors, sinusoidal congestion and multifocal hemosiderin deposits in macrophages were observed. The case was diagnosed as intrasplenic myelolipoma.
