Abstract

The current study was conducted to examine the effect of ferula hermonis roots extract on testicular biometry and reproductive hormones in local ducks. Forty-ve local drakes were divided into three treatments. The  rst and second treatments were orally dosed 100 and 200 mg of ferula hermonis roots extract for six weeks respectively. The third treatment was without the extract (control). The results showed a signicantly higher relative weight, length, width and volume of the testes in the second treatment compared to  rst and third treatments. The results indicated a signi cant increase in the seminal tubular diameter and thickness of seminiferous epithelium in the second treatment compared to rst and third treatments. On the other hand, there was a signicant increase in the concentration of Luteinizing hormone (LH), follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) and testosterone in the second treatment compared to rst and third treatments. We can conclude that a ferula hermonis roots extract has improved the development of testes and increases FSH, LH and testosterone hormones in local drakes.
