Abstract

In a herd of 318 bovine females of the Dutch breed of an intensive breeding farm located in the state of Sao Paulo, Brazil, reproductive disorders represented by abortions, stillbirth and repetition of estrus were observed. The diagnosis of leptospirosis was performed using the Microscopic Agglutination Test (MAT) and Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) for Leptospira spp. In conclusion, it was found that Leptospirosis was the cause of reproductive disorders in the dairy herd and among the seropositive animals, there were great predominance of reactions with serogroup (sg) Icterohaemorrhagiae followed by sg Sejroe, sg Pomona, sg Grippotyphosa, sg Canicola and sg Pyrogenes.
