Abstract

An eight year old, pluriparous cow was presented with the history of dull and depressed behaviour, progressive anorexia, cessation of rumination, regurgitation of feed materials and apparent loss of body weight. Based on clinical examination and diagnostic procedures, the condition was diagnosed as rumen impaction due to indigestible foreign materials. Rumenotomy was performed and 82 kgs of plastic materials were removed. This surgery resulted in excellent resolution of clinical signs.
