Abstract

The present study onsero-secreeningwas carried out to assess the status of brucellosis in an organized Gurez sheep farm unit established at Mountain Research Centre for Sheep and Goat (MRCSG), F.V.Sc& A.H, SKUAST-Kashmir. A total of 34 ewes and 4 rams of Gurez sheep between age group of 1-2 years were kept under quarantine and sero-screened for brucellosis. The samples were tested by Rose Bengal Plate test (RBPT) and Standard Tube Agglutination Test (STAT). Animals were found to be negative on repeated serological test results.Brucellosis is an endemic and highly zoonotic disease, prevalent in this region which necessitates the screening of animals to eliminate thepossibility of transmission of this disease in animals and humans
