Occurrence of Caecal Coccidiosis in Poultry

Abstract

Coccidiosis is the most important protozoan disease of poultry caused by Eimeriaspecies and widely seen in growing chicken around the world. A case of caecal coccidiosis was brought by a poultry farmer, with the history of heavy mortality, morbidity, dehydration, lowered feed intake, weight loss, depression, ruffled feathers, huddling, paleness and occasional bloody diarrhoea in birds around 4-10 weeks of age group. The necropsy of dead birds revealed thickening of intestines and caeca, catarrhal enteritis and blood mixed exudates in the caeca.
