Occurrence of Caecal Coccidiosis in Poultry

Coccidiosis is the most important protozoan disease of poultry caused by Eimeriaspecies and widely seen in growing chicken around the world. A case of caecal coccidiosis was brought by a poultry farmer, with the history of heavy mortality, morbidity, dehydration, lowered feed intake, weight loss, depression, ruffled feathers, huddling, paleness and occasional bloody diarrhoea in birds around 4-10 weeks of age group. The necropsy of dead birds revealed thickening of intestines and caeca, catarrhal enteritis and blood mixed exudates in the caeca. The present paper describes the occurrence and pathology of caecal coccidiosis and associate changes in chicken
